Grand River Chorus Sings Songs of Remembrance

On Sunday, November 5, 2023, the choir will perform its first concert of their 25th Anniversary season.  “Songs of Remembrance” is a concert which dutifully honours those who sacrificed for Canada’s Freedom.

Concert Features

The concert features Gabriel Faure’s Requiem, led by the choir’s Artistic Director, Ron Ka Ming Cheung, M. Mus.  “The Faure Requiem is an incredibly moving piece,” says Cheung.  “It is always an important event to commemorate the contributions of our veterans, and this setting of the Requiem is one of peace without judgement.”

The concert will include arrangements of beloved pieces such as Amazing Grace, In Flanders Fields, Abide With Me and How They So Softly Rest. The choir will perform After the War, a song written by Paul Gross and David Keele for the 2014 film ‘Passchendaele’.

Maya’s Prayer for Peace and Paul Halley’s Freedom Trilogy will continue the theme of peace and hope.
